Infant Feeding Support Worker

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time Infant Feeding Support Worker to join the Infant Feeding Team at Liverpool Women’s Hospital.

This role involves supporting mums/birthing people throughout the hospital, assisting breastfeeding classes, and implementing Baby Friendly Initiative standards. You’ll work closely under the supervision of the Infant Feeding Lead Midwife.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and support infant feeding aligned with UK Baby Friendly standards.
  • Empower women in breastfeeding techniques and milk production maintenance.
  • Assist in direct and indirect infant feeding care and development initiatives.
  • Participate in audits and provide feedback on infant feeding practices.
  • Respond to enquiries and escalate when necessary.
  • Deliver specialist support (e.g., tongue-tie issues) with appropriate training.
  • Support training for multi-disciplinary team members.

 Person Specification

Skills, Knowledge & Aptitudes

  •  Prepared to undertake personal development and training
  •  Understands confidentiality
  •  Competent IT skills
  •  Able to plan and organise own workload

Qualifications & Learning

  • Good basic education
  • Completed 2-day BFI breastfeeding course

Experience

  •  Experience in a similar caring role
  • Worked with breastfeeding mothers
  •  Clerical/data input experience
  • Desirable: NHS or team experience

 Additional Information

  • Contract: Permanent
  • Grade: Band 2
  • Working Hours: 30 hours/week
  • Salary: £24,169 per annum
  • Location: Liverpool Women’s Hospital, Liverpool
