About the Internship Program

Velera’s Summer Internship Program is designed for undergraduate students who want real-world experience in a purpose-driven organization. Interns gain hands-on exposure to the financial services and credit union industry while building professional and technical skills through structured learning, collaboration, and mentorship.

You’ll also participate in training sessions covering industry fundamentals, Six Sigma, presentation skills, and career preparation, while networking with experienced leaders across Velera.

Overview

As a Data Engineer Intern, you’ll support Velera’s Databricks-based ETL framework and reporting initiatives. This role is ideal for students interested in data engineering, analytics, and modern data platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze ETL pipeline performance
  • Support Databricks jobs and code analysis
  • Improve and maintain technical documentation (Wiki)
  • Validate and enhance metadata (Metapedia)
  • Explore AI/ML improvements within Databricks
  • Python coding (nice to have)

Day in the Life

  • Participate in Agile team meetings
  • Research Databricks features and limitations
  • Update and maintain Wiki documentation
  • Analyze, report on, and support Databricks workflows

Entry Qualifications

  • Completion of sophomore or junior year in an accredited undergraduate program
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0 / 4.0
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Passion for learning the Credit Union and Financial Services industry
