Overview
Two leading institutions — and — have partnered to address the national shortage of pharmacists. From September 2024, the highly ranked MPharm (Hons) Pharmacy programme from the University of Bath is now delivered at Plymouth, expanding access to pharmacy education across the South West.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior IT & AV Support Engineer to take operational and technical ownership of IT and Audio-Visual services supporting the MPharm programme in Plymouth.
About the Role
Reporting to the IT & AV Support Manager, you will lead the delivery of reliable, high-quality IT and AV services that underpin technology-enhanced teaching, clinical simulation environments, hybrid learning spaces, and professionally accredited healthcare education. This is a pivotal role ensuring secure and high-performing digital teaching systems aligned with University of Bath standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead 1st and 2nd line IT & AV support services
- Manage incidents, service requests and change processes
- Oversee installation, maintenance and lifecycle management of IT and AV equipment
- Support digital teaching tools such as Moodle and Panopto
- Lead small technical projects, managing risks and stakeholder communication
- Drive continuous improvement in systems, documentation and service standards
- Provide technical leadership across Windows, macOS and Linux environments
- Support networking, Active Directory, SCCM and Jamf
- Advise staff on e-assessment solutions, hybrid delivery and digital teaching materials
- Ensure teaching and simulation environments operate securely and effectively
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a technically strong, service-oriented professional who combines operational leadership with excellent stakeholder engagement.
You will bring experience providing 1st and 2nd line IT & AV support (ideally in Higher Education), strong knowledge of servers, desktops, laptops and mobile devices, experience with lecture capture systems such as Panopto, Crestron or Extron, knowledge of Microsoft Teams and Zoom, understanding of Moodle or other virtual learning environments, experience administering Windows, macOS and/or Linux systems, familiarity with Active Directory, SCCM and Jamf, IT networking knowledge, excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
