Role Overview

We’re seeking an experienced IT Manager to lead our IT operations, infrastructure, and security across global offices. You will oversee daily IT performance, drive technical strategy, deliver IT projects, and manage a high-performing IT team while ensuring security, efficiency, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

IT Operations & Infrastructure

  • Implement and manage an IT Helpdesk system.
  • Oversee daily IT operations, networks, systems, and service availability.
  • Manage setup and configuration of desktops, laptops, and communication systems.
  • Ensure backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
  • Monitor performance and drive operational improvement.

User Experience & Collaboration

  • Ensure secure, efficient access to IT services across offices.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, Security, HR, Finance, and other teams.
  • Promote digital literacy and cybersecurity practices.

Team Leadership

  • Hire, lead, and mentor the IT team.
  • Provide training and technical guidance.
  • Oversee support and helpdesk functions.

Project Management & Strategy

  • Deliver IT infrastructure and upgrade projects.
  • Evaluate technologies for efficiency and scalability.
  • Manage budgets, procurement, and vendor relationships.
  • Align IT initiatives with organisational goals.

Policy, Governance & Documentation

  • Maintain IT policies and procedures.
  • Manage asset tracking and software licensing.
  • Maintain documentation and system reports.

Security & Compliance

  • Collaborate with Security and Compliance teams.
  • Enforce access controls and security best practices.
  • Support ISO 27001, GDPR, and other standards.
  • Manage endpoint security, patching, and incident response.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Master’s in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 8–10+ years’ experience in IT infrastructure, systems, or network management.
  • 3+ years in IT leadership roles.
  • Experience managing enterprise hybrid environments.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Windows, Linux, and macOS.
  • Experience with Azure AD, JumpCloud, Intune, MDM systems.
  • Asset management using Snipe-IT.
  • Jira Service Management expertise.
  • LAN/WAN, VPN, firewalls, routing, switching.
  • Zero-trust networking knowledge.
  • PowerShell, Bash, Python for automation.
  • Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Strong IAM and security principles understanding.
  • Familiarity with ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, NIST.
  • IT certifications are a plus.

Soft Skills

  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills.
  • Problem-solving mindset and continuous improvement focus.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally.

Preferred

  • Experience with AI, AgBioTech, genomics, or R&D environments.
  • Experience managing global teams.

Salary

£60,000 – £70,000 per year
