Job Overview
The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is recruiting a Pathology IT Technician & Developer (Band 7) to support the Black Country Pathology Service.
This hybrid role combines technical support for Pathology IT systems with advanced development, automation, business intelligence, and data science responsibilities. The post holder will also act as Site Lead for one BCPS site, providing local IT leadership and supporting Trust-wide digital transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and support Pathology IT systems and system interfaces
- Monitor infrastructure performance, stability, and security
- Resolve complex technical issues and liaise with internal teams and suppliers
- Design and deploy workflow automation using Power Apps and Power Automate
- Develop dashboards and reports using Power BI
- SQL development including SSIS (ETL) and SSRS reporting
- API-based integration between LIMS, Trust systems, and external platforms
- Extract, validate, transform, and manage complex datasets
- Apply predictive modelling, machine learning, and anomaly detection using Python or R
- Act as Site Lead, coordinating local IT support and representing the site in BCPS projects
- Support Trust-wide digital and data transformation initiatives
- Ensure compliance with NHS data governance and information security standards
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Degree or equivalent experience in IT, Science, or a related discipline
Desirable Criteria
- ITIL, PRINCE2, or CompTIA certifications
- Microsoft Power Platform certifications (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI)
- Microsoft SQL Server certifications
