Jr. Software Engineer – Remote | Tria Federal

We are seeking a Jr. Software Engineer to support a major VA claims adjudication system. You will help build, enhance, and maintain backend services, APIs, and integrations that power Veteran and caregiver travel claim submissions—working collaboratively within two-week agile sprints.
Requirements
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Federal Position of Trust
- Must reside and work in the United States
- Must have lived in the U.S. for 3 of the last 5 years
Qualifications
- Experience with backend development using modern languages
- Knowledge of RESTful APIs, integrations & async processing
- Understanding of cloud deployment patterns & automated testing
- Ability to troubleshoot production issues collaboratively
- Strong focus on code quality, maintainability & security
Responsibilities
- Enhance & maintain API and backend systems
- Build integrations with VA.gov, vets-api, mobile apps & staff tools
- Implement secure, performant, reliable services
- Participate in agile sprint delivery, testing & documentation
- Share in code reviews, pair programming & continuous improvement
- Support CI/CD workflows and zero-downtime deployments
- Assist with production issue troubleshooting & escalations
- Ensure compliance with VA standards (508 accessibility, security, data usage)
