Overview
The Junior Business Analyst (BA) plays a critical role within collaborative bid teams, supporting the development of commercially competitive and financially robust solutions that secure profitable, long-term contracts through retention, extensions, and new wins.
Working closely with the Solutions Director and wider bid team members (Bid Managers, Subject Matter Experts, and support functions), the Junior BA will assist in all aspects of costing, financial modelling, and commercial risk/opportunity analysis throughout the bid lifecycle. This includes early-stage bid/no-bid reviews, solution development, costing/pricing, submission, negotiation, and contract close.
Job Description
This role requires a strong commercial mindset, with the ability to:
- Analyse client requirements and identify risks
- Develop pricing strategies
- Ensure accurate, competitive submissions
The Junior BA will liaise with colleagues across Operations, Legal, Insurance, Procurement, and People & Culture, acting as a conduit between the bid team and the wider business. It is a fast-paced, commercially focused role demanding analytical rigour, financial acumen, and the ability to balance competitiveness with deliverability.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all pricing and commercial risk aspects of assigned bids
- Take full ownership of the accuracy and completeness of cost and pricing submissions
- Develop and drive pricing strategies balancing competitiveness with profitability
- Review bid documents to identify pricing requirements and contractual risks/opportunities
- Formulate and communicate client clarifications to support pricing strategies
- Use top-down and bottom-up costing approaches across FM services (hard and soft)
- Benchmark against internal and external data to validate assumptions
- Act as focal point for all finance aspects of a bid, preparing P&Ls and cashflows
- Liaise with suppliers, procurement, and operational teams to deliver competitive solutions
Professional and Personal Competencies
- Recognised qualifications with demonstrable technical competence
- Proven experience in estimating within Facilities Management or a related industry
- Strong track record in data analysis, costings, and contributing to winning bids
- Analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
- Commercial awareness with ability to assess risks and financial implications
- Confident in working with P&Ls, cashflows, and financial modelling
- Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working within private and public sector procurement (e.g., Crown Commercial Services, NHS)
- Knowledge of different pricing approaches and commercial models
