 Overview

Lloyds Banking Group is recruiting a Lead Infrastructure Engineer – Modern Workplace Security to help design and secure the future of its modern workplace platforms. This senior role sits within the Chief Security Office (CSO) and combines hands-on technical leadership with people management responsibilities.

The role follows a hybrid working model, requiring a minimum of two days per week (40%) on-site.

About the Role

You will lead two feature teams responsible for building and operating secure, scalable workplace security services. The position requires strong technical expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to mentor and manage engineers while actively contributing to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Define and evolve infrastructure and security strategy
  • Own and deliver the technical roadmap with Product Owners
  • Integrate security controls including Microsoft Defender and Microsoft Purview
  • Champion Infrastructure-as-Code, automation, and best practices
  • Measure and report automation effectiveness to senior stakeholders

Team Management

  • Line-manage engineers, including coaching and performance management
  • Build a collaborative, high-performing team culture
  • Develop team capability through mentoring and structured development
  • Plan resources and manage budgets

Operational Excellence

  • Deliver and support secure infrastructure products and services
  • Drive innovation using DevOps, CI/CD, and automation
  • Improve end-user experience while maintaining strong security controls
  • Promote documentation and service management tools such as JIRA and ServiceNow

Risk, Security and Compliance

  • Implement security and compliance policies
  • Support risk management and prioritisation
  • Balance usability, performance, and security requirements

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience leading engineering teams
  • Strong endpoint security expertise on Windows and macOS
  • Experience with Microsoft Defender, Purview, Endpoint DLP, and Exchange/Email Security
  • Infrastructure-as-Code experience, such as Terraform
  • Scripting skills in PowerShell and/or Python
  • Experience with automation, APIs, and continuous improvement
  • User-first mindset balancing security and usability
  • Ability to influence technical and platform direction

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with additional endpoint security tools
  • Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD tooling such as Azure DevOps or Harness
  • Familiarity with JIRA and ServiceNow
  • Experience with on-call or out-of-hours rotas
  • Relevant certifications including Microsoft Security, CISSP, CCSP, or cloud security credentials
