Overview
Cambridge University Press & Assessment is seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer to join its English Engineering team. This role is ideal for a senior full-stack developer who thrives in building modern, scalable eLearning platforms using TypeScript and ReactJS, while also mentoring and leading engineers.
You’ll play a key role in shaping technical direction, architectural standards, and high-quality software that supports learners and educators worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical solutions and contribute to architectural best practices
- Design and build complex web applications (primarily TypeScript)
- Maximise use of AWS cloud services
- Lead and participate in paired programming and code reviews
- Mentor up to two software engineers
- Work closely with UX, Product, QA, Architects, and stakeholders
- Champion agile development practices
- Support testing strategies and robust software delivery
- Contribute to technical requirements and product vision
About You
- 7+ years’ experience in full-stack development
- Strong experience with JavaScript/TypeScript (Python or Java desirable)
- Deep understanding of software architecture and best practices
- Experience working in Agile environments
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn new technologies
