Locum Social Worker – Public & Private Law Teams
Location: Thames Valley (Reading, Oxford, Slough) & Swindon

Pay: Up to £38 per hour
Overview
Cafcass is looking for experienced Locum Social Workers to join our Public and Private Law teams. You’ll work on meaningful cases that make a real difference to children and families involved in family court proceedings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake work in Public and/or Private Law proceedings
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children
- Prepare high-quality court reports with clear, child-focused recommendations
- Work directly with children and families to ensure the child’s voice is heard
- Liaise with legal professionals, local authorities, and partner agencies
Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration
- Proven experience in Public and/or Private Law
- Strong assessment, analysis, and report-writing skills
- Ability to manage a caseload independently and meet court deadlines
- Commitment to Cafcass values and child-centred practice
