Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide essential assistance to individuals in need of care, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and well-being. This role is vital in supporting clients with daily activities and promoting their independence, particularly in settings such as their own homes and out in the community.
P is a gentleman in his 50’s who loves football, he is a proud supporter of Sunderland and enjoys going to home games with his dad. P also really enjoys music and the radio station Boom Radio. His favourite band is Boney M. P likes going out for drives in his car and visiting pubs for a drink or a meal. P is looking for someone to support him who has similar interests
Shift pattern – one long day / sleep shift with opportunity for over time.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Administer medication as prescribed and monitor clients for any side effects or changes in condition.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, particularly those dealing with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
- Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary requirements and preferences.
- Assist with mobility and transportation needs, including driving clients to appointments or social activities.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Document care provided and report any concerns regarding client health or behaviour to the appropriate professionals.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive care for each client.
Requirements
- Previous experience in patient care or a similar role is preferred but not essential.
- Knowledge of medication administration practices and first aid procedures is highly desirable.
- Experience in dementia care, hospice care, or senior care settings will be an advantage.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and their families.
- A valid driving licence is preferred to assist with transportation needs.
- A compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others maintain their quality of life.
- Ability to work flexible hours as required by client needs.

Required Experience:

Qualifications:
- Relevant Qualification: A qualification such as NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or an equivalent recognised qualification) is essential.
English Language Proficiency:
- Home Office Requirements: Applicants must meet the English language proficiency standards as set by the Home Office for Skilled Worker visa applicants.
