Mental Health Practitioner

Job Overview

We are excited to recruit new permanent Specialist Mental Health Practitioners to join our team in the North Bournemouth Primary Care Network (PCN), funded by the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS).

This role is ideal for proactive, passionate professionals eager to provide innovative, high-quality care to individuals needing mental health support in a primary care setting.

You will:

  • Bridge the gap between primary and secondary mental health services
  • Work across three GP practices within the PCN
  • Collaborate closely with Community Mental Health Teams and Steps to Wellbeing Service
  • Deliver triage, assessments, and evidence-based interventions
  • Lead mental health training and development initiatives in practice

Main Duties 

As part of our Integrated Model of Care, you will:

  • Collaborate with GPs and mental health teams to offer seamless, patient-centred care
  • Support PCN clinical strategy by delivering targeted mental health services
  • Improve access to care and facilitate appropriate referrals
  • Coordinate with secondary care, third-sector providers, and local support services
  • Help transform the way mental health is delivered in primary care

Contract: Permanent | Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Salary: £46,148 – £52,809 p.a.

Essential Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Training

  • Professional qualification: RMN, OT, Social Worker, or Psychologist (degree or equivalent + Master’s-level knowledge or experience)
  • Registration with a relevant professional body
  • Experience teaching and mentoring staff

Job-Specific Experience

  • Band 6 (or above) experience
  • Strong risk management background
  • Experience in care programme development and multi-disciplinary team work

Leadership & IT

  • Experience supervising and developing staff
  • Skilled in using electronic patient records and Microsoft Office
  • Report writing and data analysis capabilities

Desirable

  • Non-Medical Prescriber qualification (if applicable)
