Position: Network Engineer (Hybrid)
Type: Permanent
Salary: From £42,000 per annum (negotiable based on experience)
Hours: 35 hours per week
Reports to: Network Team Lead
Working Style: Office-based at the Network Operations Centre in London for the first 6 months; field-based thereafter as needed

 Overview:

As part of Janet Network Operations, you will help ensure the delivery and stability of the entire Janet network. The role combines responsibilities in both operations and delivery, with work in the NOC and at network sites.

 Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and resolve network faults and incidents
  • Manage end-to-end customer connection installations
  • Create and maintain operational procedures and documentation
  • Mentor and support other operational staff
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota and occasional out-of-hours work
  • Travel to remote network locations and data centres as needed

Requirements:

  • Experience in a network engineer role
  • Strong knowledge of IPv4/IPv6, DNS, LAN/WAN, and dynamic routing protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF)
  • Experience with Juniper, Cisco, or other major vendors
  • Layer 1–3 troubleshooting and installation experience
  • Knowledge of DWDM is a plus
