About the Role

Nomura is seeking an Executive Director to lead global Operational Risk Management’s oversight of Compliance, Legal, and People risk domains. This is a senior strategic position, partnering with specialist teams and regional ORM leaders to deliver consistent, enterprise-wide risk oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategy to strengthen ORM for Compliance, Legal, and People risk
  • Conduct assessments of key risks and enhance controls in collaboration with SMEs
  • Participate in management forums to influence strategic decision-making
  • Oversee independent review of risk exposures, control effectiveness, and mitigation measures
  • Establish risk appetite and early warning metrics in partnership with SMEs
  • Contribute to the development of risk and control frameworks for these domains
  • Lead analysis of operational risk events and thematic issues
  • Coordinate with regional ORM teams for global consistency

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Significant experience in financial services risk management (1LOD, 2LOD, or 3LOD)
  • In-depth technical knowledge of global financial services regulations
  • Understanding of legal risks related to contracts, documentation, and enforceability
  • Knowledge of employment practices risks in the financial services industry
  • Proven experience investigating regulatory, legal, or conduct issues
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to produce concise presentations
