About the Role
Following recent service improvements, NHS Lothian is expanding capacity within its Pharmacy Dispensary at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. We are seeking two enthusiastic and reliable Pharmacy Support Workers (Higher Level) to join our Pharmacy & Medicines Service team.
The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh is a large teaching hospital delivering best practice across a wide range of specialist services. You will work alongside pharmacy technicians, trainee technicians, and registered pharmacy staff to ensure the safe and effective supply of medicines.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and dispensing of medicines under the supervision of registered pharmacy staff
- Support services at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and Paediatric Haematology/Oncology Clinic
- Maintain accurate records in line with legal and organisational standards
- Support stock management, including ordering, receiving, and safe storage of medicines
- Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare professionals
What We’re Looking For
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work accurately and follow procedures
- Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
- Previous experience in a healthcare or pharmacy environment (essential)
- Willingness to complete required training and competency assessments
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- National 4 (or equivalent) in English, Mathematics, and a Science (Biology or Chemistry)
- Educated to SCQF Level 6 with relevant healthcare or pharmacy work experience
- Prior experience within pharmacy services
- A diligent, reliable, and flexible approach to work
Completion of an in-house competency-based Group Award accredited via Edinburgh College within 12 months of commencing the post is required, along with mandatory in-house training programmes.
