Principal Data Analyst
Location: Hybrid (Wales, UK)
Contract: Fixed Term (16 months, until 31 March 2027)
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (flexible working)
Salary: £48,527 – £55,532 per annum

Overview
Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Principal Data Analyst to join its team on a fixed-term basis.
This key role supports the digital transformation of healthcare across Wales by leveraging data to improve patient care and healthcare services.
You will lead the development and coordination of data flows into the warehouse environment, supporting critical workstreams and managing a team of data professionals. The role combines technical expertise, leadership, and collaboration across health and care partners.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate complex data integration and analysis projects.
- Manage and mentor data engineers and analysts.
- Design and maintain SQL Server databases and Business Intelligence tools.
- Support data acquisition and transformation for national health programmes.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
About You
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Management, Information Management & Technology, or equivalent experience.
- Expertise in SQL Server development, integration, and BI.
- Experience with relational database design and data warehousing.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
- ILM Management Qualification or equivalent.
- Knowledge of NHS systems and data warehousing methodologies (Kimball DW).
- Welsh language skills (desirable but not required).
