About the Role

The BBC is seeking a Principal Data Analyst to lead major analytics projects that support our mission to inform, educate and entertain audiences across the UK. You’ll deliver actionable insights from complex datasets, manage senior stakeholder relationships, and help shape the BBC’s data capability for the future.

This mid-level role combines hands-on analytics with leadership responsibilities, offering the chance to influence decision-making across Editorial, Marketing, Product, and other divisions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of large analytics projects from scoping to insights.
  • Extract, manipulate, and analyse complex datasets.
  • Produce clear, impactful visualisations and reports.
  • Translate data into actionable recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Build trusted relationships across senior teams.
  • Mentor and support junior analysts, with potential line management.
  • Promote best practice standards in analytics and data quality.

About You

  • Strong experience in data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
  • Skilled in creating compelling data visualisations and reports.
  • Comfortable working with senior stakeholders and influencing decisions.
  • Able to prioritise and manage competing demands.
  • Experience mentoring or managing junior analysts is desirable.
