About the Role
We are looking for a Product Designer – Connect to help design engaging, social, and joyful experiences that allow players to connect, interact, and feel part of a global community.
This role focuses on social features across key product areas such as Home, Profiles, Friends, Chat, and Leaderboards, ensuring a balance between engagement and simplicity.
About You
You are a curious and detail-oriented designer with a strong interest in the social side of games. You care deeply about user experience, pixel-level precision, and crafting meaningful connections through thoughtful design.
You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy turning insights, heuristics, and user behavior into elegant product experiences.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate closely with Product Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, Copywriters, and stakeholders
- Design high-quality, polished experiences for web and mobile platforms
- Create social and community-focused features across Home, Profile, Friends, Chat, and Leaderboards
- Present design concepts clearly, backed by rationale, heuristics, and user insights
- Build and iterate on prototypes to communicate ideas effectively
- Own projects from concept to implementation and ensure design-to-code alignment
- Proactively suggest improvements that enhance fun, consistency, and social interaction
- Provide thoughtful feedback and help uplift fellow designers
Preferred Skills & Experience
- 2–3 years of experience as a Product Designer on a consumer-facing product or game
- Strong portfolio demonstrating UI and UX expertise
- Mastery of UI fundamentals (typography, color, layout, hierarchy, contrast, interactivity)
- Experience designing responsive interfaces for mobile and web
- Familiarity with established design systems
- Understanding of how design translates into frontend code
- Experience using AI tools such as Figma Make, Cursor, or Claude Code
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills in a remote team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High level of ownership and pride in your work
Bonus Points
- Passion for chess and familiarity with Chess.com
- Experience designing social features for mobile games
- Design engineering or frontend development experience (Web, iOS, Android)
