 Overview

and associated emergency units are seeking a Healthcare Receptionist to support administrative and patient reception services across emergency and assessment units.

This role involves managing front-desk operations, supporting clinical teams, and ensuring patients, relatives, and visitors receive professional assistance within emergency departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate administrative and telephone duties across emergency units.
  • Welcome and assist patients, relatives, and visitors.
  • Provide reception services for Emergency Units, SDEC, and Minor Injury Units.
  • Explain emergency department procedures and the triage system when required.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accurate visitor attendance records.
  • Enter patient details into the computerized medical records system.
  • Register patients and create medical case folders.
  • Print patient labels and maintain medical documentation.
  • Ensure inpatient records are available for admitted patients.
  • Track and deliver medical notes to wards.
  • Request medical records from other hospitals when required.
  • Liaise with management teams regarding incoming admissions.
  • Register admissions and discharges on the Patient Management System (PMS).
  • Communicate ambulance arrivals to the assessment unit.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • English speaking required; Welsh language skills desirable.
  • Administrative or reception experience preferred.
  • Knowledge gained through in-house training.
  • DBS check required due to contact with children.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
