Overview
The Relief Support Worker (Grounds Maintenance Operative) is responsible for carrying out scheduled grounds maintenance tasks across multiple sites. Duties include operating grounds maintenance machinery, conducting minor remedial work, maintaining safety standards, and identifying site improvement opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform grounds maintenance tasks across multiple sites according to schedule
- Operate and carry out daily checks on powered and non-powered tools and equipment
- Conduct minor remedial work on non-asset features such as paving flags
- Comply with Health & Safety regulations and internal company policies
- Identify site standard improvements and winter work requirements
- Work closely with process and network teams
- Handle and apply pesticides safely
Required Skills and Experience
- Practical outdoor experience in grounds maintenance
- Skilled in operating machinery such as ride-on mowers, walk-behind mowers, strimmers, blowers, and hedge cutters
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to plan workloads and work across multiple sites
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to conduct dynamic risk assessments
Qualifications
- Accredited Grounds Maintenance qualifications (Lantra, NPTC, City & Guilds, etc.)
- Pesticide Application certificates: PA1 and PA6
