We provide the Research Ethics Service (RES), Confidentiality Advice function, NHS assessments and assurances, and guidance for the research community.
Overview
We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst to join the HRA’s Digital Transformation and Research Systems Programme.
You will work closely with the Head of Data Engineering and Agile development teams to analyse, interpret, and predict patterns in data. The role focuses on creating and enhancing data products to support insights and decision-making, while strengthening governance across the organisation.
Main Duties
- Apply advanced tools and techniques for data analysis and visualisation
- Use SQL and BI tools to manage, clean, and aggregate data
- Manipulate and link different datasets using Microsoft Data Tooling (SQL Server, Power BI, Data Factory)
- Summarise and present data findings in clear formats
- Support strong data governance practices
- Document business data requirements with colleagues across HRA
- Lead stakeholder engagement on data needs and reporting requirements
Person Specification
Qualifications (Essential):
- Degree in a data-related discipline or equivalent industry experience
- Evidence of continued professional development
Knowledge & Skills (Essential):
- Proficiency with data analytics and visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI)
- Expertise in data analysis, synthesis, modelling, and warehousing
- Strong understanding of data governance and compliance standards
- Ability to anticipate problems and deliver data-driven solutions
Desirable:
- Knowledge of Microsoft BI stack
- Experience with software development life cycle
- Demonstrable experience presenting data to stakeholders
