Please Note: This role does not meet the current salary requirement for visa sponsorship. As of April 9, 2025, the minimum salary for a Skilled Worker visa is £25,000. Most new starters are appointed at the lower band level.

Main Duties

You’ll support patients with essential care tasks alongside a Registered Nurse.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with daily living (washing, dressing, toileting, feeding)
  • Monitoring patients and performing basic health checks
  • Promoting dignity and comfort
  • Maintaining accurate documentation

 

Advanced clinical tasks (after training):

  • Blood pressure and oxygen saturation checks
  • Monitoring pulse, respiration, and temperature
  • Glucose testing
  • ECG monitoring
  • Collecting and testing urine, faecal and sputum samples
  • Venepuncture and cannulation
  • Aseptic non-touch technique

Nursing Care (under indirect supervision, after competency)

  • Carry out delegated duties aligned with care plans
  • Use initiative and sound judgment where needed
  • Monitor patients and escalate concerns appropriately
  • Follow infection prevention and health & safety policies
  • Support patient independence and self-care
  • Accurately document care delivery and communication
  • Maintain equipment and clinical supplies
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team

Education, Training & Qualifications

Essential:

  • NVQ/RQF Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent experience, minimum 12 months)
  • GCSE Grade A–C (4+) or equivalent in English and Maths

Desirable:

  • Clinical skills training

Work Experience

Essential:

  • 12+ months in a health or social care setting
  • Teamwork and time management experience

Desirable:

  • End-of-life care experience

Skills and Abilities

Essential:

  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Basic IT and documentation skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision to a high standard
