Senior Network Analyst – NHS (Band 7)

Location: Leigh Infirmary, The Avenue, Leigh, WN7 1HS, Lancashire
Contract type: Permanent, Full-time (37.5 hours, Mon–Fri, 08:30–16:30, with on-call rota)
Salary: £47,810 – £54,710 per annum (pro rata, NHS AfC: Band 7)

Overview

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WWL) are seeking an experienced Senior Network Analyst to join our IT Services Department at Leigh Infirmary.

The post holder will:

  • Maintain and improve the Trust’s IT network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, wireless, data, voice, video).
  • Ensure stability, integrity, and security of in-house network services.
  • Support the development, planning, design, and implementation of IT projects.
  • Lead on network troubleshooting and performance improvements.

Note: Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle. Adjustments will be discussed if this requirement cannot be met due to a disability.


 Responsibilities

  • Undertake and analyse site survey reports, installation plans, and commissioning.
  • Monitor and review performance, throughput, availability, and incidents.
  • Configure and optimise network topology and security.
  • Support disaster recovery planning and IT business continuity.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and training to junior team members.
  • Manage the work of Network Analysts and deputise for the Technical Support Manager.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications:

  • Degree-level education (or equivalent experience).
  • MCP/MCSE qualification.
  • ITIL Foundation.
  • PRINCE2 Foundation.

Desirable:

  • CISSP or equivalent.

Essential Experience:

  • Designing, developing, supporting, and maintaining core IT infrastructure.
  • LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, routing, switching, SNMP.
  • Project planning and delivery.
  • Team leadership in IT environments.

Desirable:

  • NHS IM&T experience.
  • Security tools and processes.
