Role Summary

As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with learning disabilities and mental health challenges in our residential homes. You will lead by example, provide guidance to junior staff, and ensure the smooth running of day-to-day care services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support individuals with personal care, daily living, and community activities.
  • Promote independence, safety, and wellbeing.
  • Assist with menu planning, cooking, shopping, and domestic tasks.
  • Administer medication (after training) and complete health & safety checks.
  • Maintain accurate care records and reports.
  • Act as Shift Leader/Designated Responsible Person on a rota basis.
  • Provide leadership, feedback, and mentoring to less experienced staff.
  • Work with management to ensure effective home operations.
  • Build supportive relationships with service users, families, and professionals.
  • Participate in care planning, assessments, and reviews.
  • Undertake training, supervisions, and professional development.

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  • QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care
  • Minimum age 21
  • Caring nature and willingness to support adults with learning disabilities and/or mental health challenges
  • Experience working with Autism, learning disabilities, mental health, or challenging behaviour
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Organisational ability and use of initiative
  • Good literacy, numeracy, and IT skills
  • Physically fit for the demands of the role
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-ins

Desirable:

  • Experience working with healthcare professionals and external agencies
  • Full UK driving licence
