Overview
Join the Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust as a Service Support Worker within the Fracture Clinic and Orthopaedic Outpatient Department. This dynamic role focuses on ensuring a safe, clean, and efficient environment while supporting patients, staff, and clinical operations. You’ll be responsible for maintaining cleanliness, checking and cleaning equipment, and providing portering services to ensure safe movement of patients and materials across the hospital.
Main Responsibilities
- Ensure effective communication within the department.
- Safely transfer patients within and outside the department, prioritising bed and X-ray transfers.
- Move equipment, laundry, specimens, and patient notes safely across hospital sites.
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in clinical areas, following PPE and safety protocols.
- Report any actual or potential risks, accidents, or incidents to the nurse in charge.
- Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.
- Support service development and teamwork to ensure delivery of high-quality care.
Person Specification
Essential
- Ability to check and maintain specialised equipment.
- Experience working with the public.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload.
- Capable of standing and walking for long periods.
- Comfortable assisting patients in transfers (chairs, trolleys, beds).
Desirable
- Previous hospital experience.
- Basic Life Support certification.
- Food hygiene awareness.
