**Social Worker – 18-Month Fixed Term Contract (NHS AfC: Band 6)** **Contract:** 18 months (Fixed Term) **Hours:** Full-time – 37.5 hours per week (Part-time considered) **Location:** The Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead / St Albans **Salary Range:** £40,617 – £48,778 per annum, pro rata (5% HCAS Included) **Closing Date:** November 2, 2025 – 23:59

Overview

**Be at the heart of our community!** We have an exciting opportunity for a **qualified Band 6 Social Worker** to join our team delivering community mental health care in the Dacorum area of Hertfordshire — including Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted, Tring, and surrounding villages.

Main Duties

– Provide assessments, care planning, and coordination of care from a social perspective. – Deliver recovery-focused care and support promoting choice, control, and independence. – Champion social care, safeguarding, and equality within your locality. – Support adults at risk of exclusion and challenge discrimination in all forms. – Undertake comprehensive risk assessments and ensure vulnerable individuals are protected. – Conduct carer assessments and develop contingency plans.

Person Specification

**Essential:** – Recognised professional Social Work qualification – Degree-level education – Registration with Social Work England – Post-qualifying experience – Knowledge of legislation and policy in mental health – Safeguarding experience and training

Desirable:

  • AMHP/Best Interests Assessor qualification
  • Experience in multidisciplinary working and care planning
