Overview
Wiltshire Council is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Social Worker to join its Children in Care Team based in South Wiltshire (Salisbury). The service was rated Outstanding by Ofsted in September 2023, recognising its commitment to improving outcomes for looked-after children and care leavers.
This role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive and innovative local authority that prioritises manageable caseloads, professional development, and positive outcomes for children and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Support looked-after children and care leavers
- Work collaboratively with children, families, and partner agencies
- Deliver trauma-informed and safeguarding-focused interventions
- Contribute to care planning and permanence outcomes
- Promote inclusion and participation of young people in service development
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
- Experience working with children in care, safeguarding, or disability services
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and social care policy
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-agency environment
International Social Workers and candidates returning to practice after a career break are welcome. Support is available to help refresh skills and adapt to UK practice.
