Overview
Hull City Council is looking for experienced and confident Children’s Social Workers to join their Children’s Services team on a locum basis. This role involves complex statutory work, including court proceedings and high-risk safeguarding cases. You’ll work within a supportive environment that values professional judgment, collaboration, and high-quality social work practice.
The Role
As a Children’s Social Worker, you will:
- Manage a complex caseload including Child Protection (CP) and Child in Need (CIN) cases
- Undertake court work, including care proceedings and legal planning
- Support adoption pathways and permanency planning
- Complete private law reports (Section 7 & Section 37 assessments)
- Apply and evidence strong Signs of Safety (SOS) practice
- Carry out safeguarding interventions to protect children from harm
- Produce high-quality assessments, care plans, and court reports
- Work closely with families, legal services, health professionals, and partner agencies
- Support and mentor ASYE social workers and students
