Job description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and committed Social Worker to join the Safeguarding Adults Team at Westmorland & Furness Council.
This Grade 13 permanent post plays a pivotal role within our Adult Social Care structure, taking responsibility for safeguarding decision-making through the Single Point of Access, coordinating enquiries, case conferences, and providing advice and guidance across:
- Operational adult services
- Mental health
- Learning disability teams
While based in Penrith, you may be required to travel to other parts of Westmorland & Furness depending on service demand.
Responsibilities
- Carry and lead safeguarding enquiry caseloads
- Provide expert safeguarding advice across departments
- Support individuals to remain safe from abuse and neglect
- Develop strong working relationships with external partners (e.g., police, NHS, voluntary sector)
About You
We’re looking for a qualified and passionate Social Worker who:
- Has strong knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Demonstrates a strengths-based and person-centred approach
- Is familiar with the Cumbria Safeguarding Adults Board policies
- Can apply safeguarding procedures effectively to support adults to live safely and independently
