The Opportunity
Unity is looking for a Software Developer to join the Code Quality (CQ) Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) Compliance team. We partner with developers and leaders to drive strategy and execution around the use, contribution, and adoption of open source software. If you are someone with a keen interest in optimizing processes, removing developer roadblocks, and building systems that monitor compliance, we would love to hear from you! In this role, you will make a significant contribution to ensuring compliance for released versions of Unity!
CQ is a mix of skilled specialists, spread across various specialized teams, who have a holistic knowledge of our source code repository and the development knowledge needed to solve issues that affect the entire product.
This is a full-time position located in our Montreal, Canada or Brighton, UK offices.
Role
- This is a full-time position located in our Montreal office. What you will do.
- Ensure that Unity’s use of open source software is accurately recorded and complies with license requirements.
- Produce reports for customers who require information on the use of Unity and third-party open source code.
- Become familiar with a new area of ​​software development that involves minimal programming.
- Be part of a team that serves as a bridge between the legal and development teams
What we are looking for
- An ability to analyze version systems, capture data from multiple sources, and work with a high level of integrity and discretion.
- An ability to work in a distributed and collaborative development environment.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), including fluency in English.
- An ability to prioritize multiple simultaneous tasks.
- Collaborate with Unity R&D teams to promote best practices in open source software and licensing
Other Experiences
- Proven experience participating in open source projects as a user or contributor.
- Familiarity with open source licenses and their terms.
- Knowledge of software analysis tools (source and binary)
