 Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic SQL Data Platform Developer to join our award-winning Development Den. You’ll help build innovative BI applications, support the migration and enhancement of our cloud data warehouse, and contribute to groundbreaking analytics solutions.

What you’ll need:

  • Proven experience with Microsoft SQL Server BI Stack
  • Experience with Snowflake Cloud Data Platform (advantageous but not essential)
  • Knowledge of BI Self-Service tools such as Qliksense (advantageous)
  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience

This is a development role. The successful candidate will start as Band 5 with a two-year on-the-job training programme, progressing to Band 6 on completion.

Main Duties

  • Develop and maintain SQL-based relational databases and BI solutions.
  • Support and enhance the Trust’s Snowflake Data Warehouse.
  • Analyse and interpret business and performance information.
  • Deliver timely, accurate reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support across the Data Analytics Department.
  • Contribute to the Trust’s vision of real-time, predictive analytics.
  • Hybrid working: 1 day per week in the Wigan office, 4 days remote.

Person Specification (Essential)

  • Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, IT, or related subject (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 2 years’ advanced SQL development experience.
  • Experience in data warehouse design and BI development.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritise high-volume workloads under deadlines.

Desirable: Snowflake experience, NHS data knowledge, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft SQL Certification, or project management qualifications.
