Job Description
The aim is to provide a safe and nurturing environment which seeks to meet and exceed the Care Act 2014. This is done by meeting service users’ needs and essentially, by promoting their emotional and physical well-being.
Support workers have to actively involve service users in the planning of their care by considering their wishes and seeking their opinion in all matters that affects them. They are expected to support effective inter-agency communication, working in partnership for each service user’s choices or best interests. The job calls for someone who understands the challenges faced by adults with disabilities of today.
DUTIES
The duties and responsibilities for a Support Worker which are expected to be fulfilled by him or her are as follows:
- To operate in accordance with Eden Supported Services Ltd’s Health and Safety Policy. This includes Health and Safety checks, risks assessments, and cleaning duties to ensure that the home’s premises are kept clean and tidy at all times.
- To encourage and motivate service users to improve and maintain their independence within their limitations.
- To undertake Key worker and/or Co-Key worker roles.
- To report to the Manager, Deputy Manager and Team Leader on any significant matter regarding service users.
- To establish a good working relationship with the service users.
- To assist in creating and maintaining service user’s support network, including family, relatives, friends, voluntary and other organisations and professionals.
- To carry out cleaning and other household chores which are not very dissimilar to the usual chores one would expect to do in their own home and as per Eden Supported Services Ltd’s Health and Safety and COSHH policy.
- To actively take part in the weekly planning for service user’s.
- To make/answer telephone calls to/from professionals, to write/read letters/emails and to distribute received mail as per etiquette set out by Eden Supported Services Ltd.
- To complete all administrative records accurately and as per the organization’s procedure.
- To observe, record and collate information for the preparation and implementation of Support Plans, Behavior Management Plans, Skills Learning plans, Person Centered Plans and Risk Assessments.
You will be required to work 37.5 hours a week and you need to be available for shifts on weekdays/weekends/nights when needed.
