Location: Motherwell, Scotland
Salary: £28,000 – £30,000 (Employer provided)
Contract Type: Full Time | 37 hours per week
Training Salary: £22,672 rising to £28,011, and up to £30,230 with increments

Job Description

The Scottish Ambulance Service is currently recruiting Trainee Ambulance Care Assistants (ACA) across the following sub-regions:

Argyll and Clyde: Lochgilphead, Campbeltown

Glasgow Stations

Lanarkshire Stations

Dumfries and Galloway: Annan, Castle Douglas, Dumfries, Kirkconnell, Langholm, Lockerbie

As an ACA, you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality care and safe transport for non-emergency patients to and from hospitals, clinics, and other medical appointments. You may also support A&E services during major incidents or GP referrals.

Requirements

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Strong team spirit and ability to support vulnerable individuals

Full driving licence (maximum 4 penalty points)

Category C1 must be on your licence at least 6 weeks prior to your start date

Passes in English and Maths (Standard Grade / Nat 4 or equivalent)

Training Programme

Successful applicants will be enrolled in a bespoke clinical training programme leading to a Level 3 Certificate in Ambulance Patient Care (Non-Urgent Care Service), including a recognised driving module.

Training includes:

Classroom instruction at a regional education centre

On-the-job mentorship at your allocated station

Ongoing support from the Education Team
