Role Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and friendly Visitor Services Assistant to support our ground-breaking museum. Reporting to the Visitor Services Supervisor, your duties will include:
- Opening and closing the museum
- Supervising visitors, volunteers, and collections to ensure safety and security
- Welcoming visitors, issuing tickets, and handling cash
- Cashing up and transferring monies to the Finance Department
- Selling books, posters, and other merchandise
- Recording visitor numbers and shop sales
- Daily front-of-house housekeeping (leaflet replenishment, wiping cases)
- Answering and directing enquiries
Requirements:
- Experience using standard systems (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Customer service experience with cash handling
- Reliability, punctuality, and ability to remain calm under pressure
- Good organisational, verbal, and written skills
- Willingness to learn new tasks and follow direction
- Knowledge/interest in history of surgery and medicine is desirable
- Minimum education: SCQF Level 5 (Standard Grade) English or equivalent
